FROM THE DESK OF GENERAL SECRETARY
Dear Colleagues
It is my long cherished dream to bring the modern technologies in our field and help train up and refresh our specialist doctors working in peripheral hospitals with minimum equipments so as to make themselves well acquainted and skilled with advanced surgical procedures. With that aim, an annual academic calendar was prepared to cover up the Districts of the State as well as some parts of the North East. I appeal to all the members of our other States of the North East to come forwarded to arrange and participate in more and more workshops, CME as well as Conferences. It will increases our identity of the North Eastern Zone.
Our first Head and Neck update was held on 9th & 10th February 2009.Which was organized by North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Amrigog, Guwahati in association with NEBAOI. Invited International Faculty was Prof. M. Vandan Brekel from Netherland Cancer Institute, Amsterdam. On 9th February 2009 was a pre workshop scientific deliberation by Dr. Brekel at Hotel Pragati Manor, Guwahati. On 10th February 2009 workshop was held at NECHRI, Guwahati on laryngeal Cancer and Post Laryngectomy Voice Rehabilitation and hands on demonstration of Voice, Oilfactoy and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
On 21st March 2009 a surgical workshop on FESS & Endoscopic DCR was held in the dept. of ENT, Gauhati Medical College organized by the dept. of ENT, Gauhati Medical College in association with NEBAOI. The Resource Person was Dr. Renuka Bradoo, Prof & HOD, ENT, Lokamnya Tilak Municipal Hospital, Mumbai. The same day in the evening a panel discussion was held on FESS at Hotel Landmark, Guwahati moderated By Dr. Renuka Bradoo. There was a large number of attendence. A panel discussion was held which was participated by the members of the Association from different states of North East region.
A surgical workshop with Hands on Training Course was held from 31st March to 3rd April at Dr. B. Baruah Cancer Institute, Guwahati which was organized by CLINICAL SOCIETY, Dr. BBCI in association with NEBAOI. Resource Persons were Dr. K. Ahmed, Dr. A. Das, Dr. Rajjyoti Das and Dr. T. Rahman from Dr. B. Baruah Cancer Institute, Guwahati.
On 25th April 2009 a Panel discussion on Thyroid was held at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh moderated by Dr. R. P. Deo, Head and Neck Surgeon, Banglalore.
On 26th April 2009,Surgical workshop was held on Thyroid & Parotid in the dept. Of ENT, Assam Medical College. The Resource person was Dr. R. P. Deo. Both the programme was organized by the Dibrugarh Chapter of ENT surgeons in association with NEBAOI.
On 31st May 2009,A Surgical workshop was held at Kanaklata Civil Hospital, Tezpur on Myringoplasty with different techniques (Overlay, Interlay and Underlay) organized by Sonitpur Chapter of ENT Surgeons in association with NEBAOI. The Resource persons were Dr. K. Zaman from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Mrinmoy Bora from Nawgaon and Dr. Gautam Kahund from Guwahati.
The same day evening a panel discussion on DICHARGING EAR was held at IMA house,Tezpur moderated by Dr.K.Zaman.The subject was covered nicely with panelists from ENT specialty as wells pediatrics.
On 19th July 2009, a CME on ENT update will be held at Imphal organised by Manipur branch of NEBAOI in association with the NEBAOI parent body
It is my appeal to each and every members of the NEBAOI to join hands in fulfilling the future programs in time without any fail.
